8staff

Local-first is not a slogan

Logins stay on this machine. Learning is a notebook you can see. There is no 8staff cloud that trains on your night shift.

“Your data stays yours” is the easiest sentence in software, and usually the least true. Here is the version we will stand behind.

The staff lives on yours

8staff is a desktop app for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The roster, the desks, the files, the local notebook — they live on this machine. The models you already pay for see what they would see if you ran their CLI yourself, under the agreement you already accepted with them.

We do not proxy those CLIs. We do not borrow tokens. We do not run an 8staff brain in the sky that learns your business while you sleep.

Learning is a notebook, measured here

When learning is on, it is consent-gated and local: a short brief of what actually worked, briefed versus control, on your own work. Turn it off and the loop goes quiet. This is not overnight model training.

The one network call we make

The app can check GitHub Releases once a day for an update — anonymous, disclosed, switchable off. Installing is always your click. That is the app talking to the world. Your staff talking to a vendor is you, on that vendor’s CLI.

  • Logins stay on this machine.
  • Schedules run while 8staff is open.
  • No remote brain. No borrowed tokens. No hidden training set.

Read the security page if you want the trust boundary drawn, not just promised.

Staff the night shift.
